Q: How do I know which Board of REALTORS® should join?

A: If you are an independent Broker you can choose any board that you want to.

If you are a Broker associate you can join any board that your Responsible Broker is a member of.


Q: What is the difference between primary and secondary membership?

A: Your Primary board is the board that you pay your State and National dues through. Any board that you join after your primary is your secondary board. You would have the same benefits of primary membership. You would only pay local dues at your secondary board(s).

Q: What do I need to do to join the Board?

A: Fill out a new member application and send it in with the appropriate fees. If you need to take the new member classes you will be notified by mail monthly of the upcoming classes. After you have completed the classes you will be installed as a REALTOR® member of the

Q: How do I know if I need to take the new member class.

A: If you have not taken a NAR Ethics or new member orientation within the past 4 years. You will need to complete the Ethics orientation class.


Q: How often is the new member class held?

A: The class is held six times a year. See Education Schedule for upcoming dates


Q: Do I receive Continuing Education Credit for the Ethics and Orientation Classe?

A: Yes, you will receive 4 hours Credit.


Q: What is the cost for the new member class.

A: The Ethics orientation is $40.00.


Q: How do I transfer from another Board?

A: If you are a member in good standing of another board. You would need to fill out an application. Since you are transferring we waive the application fee. If you are member in goodstanding we waive the local dues. If you are a broker associate. Your responsible broker would need


Q: How do I get MLS access set up?

A: If you are a broker associate your responsible broker will send an MLS User form over to Metrolist. They will have you set up within 24 hrs. Your office will be billed monthly for your access.

Q: Do you have any meetings for agents that are new to real estate?

A: We have New Agents Networking Sessions, which allow new agents to learn pertinent information that will help them in the real estate industry and get answers to day to day activities that textbooks won’t teach you. Please see Education Calendar for next schedule course


Q: What is affiliate membership?

A: Affiliate membership is for anyone who is involved in real estate, but is not a licensed real estate agent. i.e.: mortgage brokers, title companies. It allows you to network with REALTORS® through various marketing sessions and annual events. The Affiliates can also get involved the affiliate council. They meet the
